The stunning 18-foot Christmas tree holding court in the InterContinental Kuala Lumpur leaves you no doubt that Christmas is in the air. With just barely 10 days to go,, if you are one of those who are frantically trying to plan your festive feasting, well, the InterContinental Kuala Lumpur has several mouth-watering options in their F&B outlets.

Let’s start with their IVIV (OneSixFive) Wine & Lounge Bar where Afternoon Teas are a way of life. During this festive month, their pastry chefs have gone out of their way to bake extra-delectable goodies like scones, pastries, handmade chocolates and yule logs, of course – what’s Christmas without yule logs, right? At RM98nett per person, the Afternoon Tea with TWG Tea and barista-made coffee is something worth splurging on while catching up with loved ones.

If you must have the traditional roast turkey at Christmas, then head on to Serena Brasserie where this revered bird takes centre-stage at their buffet tables. Roast Angus Beef Ribeye and Yorkshire Pudding are favourites too. Buffet starts at RM168 nett per person for lunch and dinner on 24-25 December 2017.

On New Year’s Eve, there’s a celebratory dinner with live music performance and midnight celebration at RM248nett per person. On New Year Day, welcome 2018 with a festive lunch at RM108nett per person.

At Tatsu Japanese Cuisine, it’s always good to go for their Kaiseki dinner. For both Christmas and New Year, Tatsu’s 7-course Kaiseki dinner is priced at RM288nett per person. The traditional multi-course dinner includes hot and cold appetisers, light hearty broth, assorted seasonal sashimi, simmered, fried and grilled dishes followed by dessert.

If you choose to dine at Tao Chinese Cuisine, you may be in a dilemma of whether to go for their special Dim Sum Lunch at RM118nett per person or for their 6-course Dinner at RM218nett per person. For dim sum, the choices are pretty exquisite as what we found out during a recent preview.

SUNDAY BUBBLY BRUNCH @ SERENA BRASSERIE, INTERCONTINENTAL KUALA LUMPUR

Sundays are lazy days for me. I sleep in a bit and sometimes I go to the wet market and sometimes I head for a massage. Most people would go for a long lazy brunch. It gets even longer when there’s champagne involved. If you fall into this group, then why not head for the Sunday Bubbly Brunch at the InterContinental Kuala Lumpur? After all, it only happens on the last Sunday of the month – so, that’s not too extravagant an indulgence, is it?

Happening at Serena Brasserie, the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant from 12.00pm till 3.00pm, there’s plenty of time to pamper oneself on the range of gastronomic delights laid out in the buffet. The pricing is based on several tiers:

There’s a dedicated corner “castle” for kids where a spread of children’s favourites are served. Kids will love the super salad, mini sandwiches, fish fingers, chocolate brownies, cookies and candies there. There’s a clown to entertain the little ones when they are not busy decorating cupcakes.

At the Mimosa Bar, guests get to choose from a selection of fresh juices and if champagne is included, try out the refreshing exotic mixtures of Laurent-Perrier champagne with orange or wild berries, lychee, peach and strawberries.

Fresh seafood on ice, crisp salads, sushi, cold cuts and cheeses are great to start the brunch with. There are Fine de Claire oysters, Australian spanner crabs, pacific prawns, slipper lobsters, NZ green lip mussels and Alaskan king crabs to choose from. If fresh raw oysters are not your thing, you can have them baked a la oyster Rockefeller style.

We fell in love with these little pails of bread, fresh from the oven!

 

We loved the live-grill station where our favourite sausages were barbecued, together with chilled sirloin, Norwegian salmon, slipper lobsters, lamb chops, beef patties and tiger prawns.

Favourites which stood out were the Beef Wellington and made-to-order Vietnamese spring rolls. The Asian main courses like “Har Lok” (Cantonese stir-fried prawns), Squids with Cashews, Ayam Goreng Berempah and ever-popular satay are not to be missed.

Save some tummy space for the desserts. Their acclaimed pastry chef, Chan Eng Hua outdid himself with a huge variety of luscious crepe samurai, chocolate raspberry tartlets, pavlova, mille-feuille, mango lassi mousse with hazelnut crumble and more.
