INTERNATIONAL SUNDAY BRUNCH at the All New LEMON GARDEN at Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur

It’s been some months since the All-New well-known Lemon Garden was relaunched at the Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur and it was the talk of the town. The last time I went to the Lemon Garden was really many years ago, so when I was there a few weeks ago, it was completely new to me.

After the facelift, the refreshed deco, designed by Bond Design Studio Inc of Japan spots an elegant theme highlighting the modern and contemporary ambience. There’s a warm sophisticated glow to the place, partly due to the hanging pendant lights and yellow light orbs and partly due to the reflective gleaming off-white tiles on the floor.

Outside, the garden terrace and chic al fresco dining area provides suitable spaces for kids to move around. This scenic spot overlooks a koi fish pond and water fountain.

The popular International Sunday Brunch at Lemon Garden is one of the most popular buffets in town. The variety of food served is amazing – ranging from Chinese, Indian, Malay, Italian, Thai, Japanese and western specialities. Most of the hot food served is at live cooking stations, often known as “theatre kitchens” in the Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur.

From the Western theatre kitchen, expect to choose from a wide selection of cheese, salads, roast beef, glazed lamb ribs and quiches. The seafood station next to it is constantly swarmed with diners eager to savour the selection of fresh oysters, scallops, crabs, squids, prawns, mussels, sashimi and sushi.

I love the Pizza and Pasta Hotspot as the pizzas are made on-the-spot and baked in a woodfire oven. Pastas are cooked upon order.

My favourite is the Chinese Theatre Kitchen with its premium double-boiled soups, roast chicken, duck, hot-off-the-stove noodles, dim sum and other oriental favourites.

The Roast Duck here is amazing!

Not to be outdone is the Asian Theatre Kitchen equipped with a tandoori oven to dish out naans, chicken tikka and various tandoori items. Besides these, the hot satay, murtabak and roti canai are popular with the crowd.  Signature dishes are the Nyonya Curry Laksa and Whole Baked Red Snapper Curry.

The stylish Desserts Pavilion is everyone’s favourite and it’s not surprising – the huge variety of local and international sweets is quite mind-boggling. It’s so hard to choose among everything that’s laid out – just go for your favourites! I zoomed in to their durian cake and chempedak puffs!

Durian Cake!

Chempedak Puff – divine!

Priced at RM168 nett (adult) and RM84 nett (child), the International Sunday Brunch starts at 12.00pm till 3.00pm.
