Back in 2000, Putien’s founder Mr Fong Chi Chung started the restaurant as a coffee shop in Kitchener Road, Singapore. Mr Fong, who migrated from Putian of Fujian Province in China, missed the home-cooked dishes from his homeland and decided to open that restaurant to recreate those dishes.
The rest, as they say, is history. From that humble beginning, Putien has since grown into a popular chain with 28 outlets internationally in the last 16 years and will soon expand to 33 outlets by end 2016.

For a double celebration, Putien’s Kitchener Road outlet was recently awarded a One Michelin Star by the inaugural Michelin Guide Singapore 2016. To celebrate this memorable occasion, Putien hosted a gala dinner for the media and associates. Several new dishes were showcased during the dinner and these may be available on their menu, subject to availability of ingredients.

Putien prides itself on using only the freshest premium ingredients and the chefs engage culinary methods which retain the essence of tradition, bringing out the best and most original flavours of those ingredients.
Yan Pi Fish Maw Soup
Besides dining on Putien’s signature appetizer dishes like Braised Handmade Beancurd, Putien-style Century Egg, Seaweed with Mini Shrimps, Braised Bamboo Shoots, new seasonal dishes were also served. These were the “Yan Pi” Fish Maw Soup, Stir-fried Seaweed and Strawberry Prawns.
The Deep-fried Yellow Croaker was particularly memorable. The yellow croaker had been marinated with premium peppercorn and sea salt for 24 hours before being deep-fried to crispiness while maintaining its juicy tender texture.
