Damansara City Mall, affectionately abbreviated to “DC Mall” is located in Damansara Town Centre. The road leading to it is a bit convoluted and you may miss the turning into the mall and its carpark but nevertheless, the mall is slowly picking up its tempo as far as tenants are concerned.
Take the escalator down to the LG Floor and before the echoes of your footsteps reverberate too long, the bright cheerful facade of TIGERLILY greets you like a warm glowing beacon in a spartan field. Its casual set-up: pine-coloured wood panels zig-zagging the floor with splashes of soothing green on the wall welcome guests with a friendly touch. Menus in various colours and funky designs add on the fun factor even before you eat anything here.
Given its comfortable ambience and its location (Damansara Heights no less), it’s a pleasant surprise to me to note that the prices of their dishes are really affordable.
We started off with some appetizers and all of them were priced below RM10. Deep-fried prawns wrapped in wantan skins with a sweet fiery chilli sauce got the ball rolling as we crunched on the Firecracker Prawns.
Spiced minced chicken wrapped around fragrant lemongrass stalks boosted our appetites further but not as much as the Mango Salad with its spicy tangy dressing. Chilli padi dotted the julienned mango strips jazzed up with limejuice – that really got us going!
I would have preferred the steamed otak-otak to be better presented, perhaps have the seafood custard wrapped in banana leaves. Instead, the thin aluminium foil cup holding the otak-otak looked rather sad and a bit out-of-shape.
Firecracker Prawns (RM6.90)
Prices of the mains ranged from RM8.90 and above and the selection was pretty good. Can’t go wrong with the Thai Basil Minced Chicken, Green Curry Prawns, Red Curry Chicken and Tom Yum Kung. All of these dishes called for plain rice and more rice! The tom yum hit all the right spots – it’s a must-order item here.
Four Angled Beans with Peanuts was something different and the crunchy peanuts were actually good when paired with the beans! The Spicy Eggplant with Dried Shrimps was another good choice to go with white rice.

We tried 2 items with squids – BBQ Sotong and Crispy Sotong. The BBQ Sotong appeared to be dry but what a nice surprise it turned out to be! Not only was it not dry, it was also very tasty and succulent – do not judge a sotong by its looks! On the other hand, the deep-fried Crispy Sotong was not so impressive as the batter was simply too thick and over-covered the squids.

The Muay Thai Fried Fish made a good impression with its vertical presentation. A fresh siakap deep-fried till crispy was served with 2 fiery tangy dips, it could be eaten on its own and in its entirety – every part of the fish was so crunchy!
There were 5 desserts listed in the menu and we couldn’t resist trying them all! We all have a chronic weakness for Thai desserts, that’s why. Of the 5, our top favourites were the Tub Tim Crob and Ice Kachang! Although Ice Kacang is not a Thai dessert, Tigerlily did this very well with lots of ingredients in that glass. What made them the stars was the extremely fine and smooth shaven ice and those red rubies (water chestnuts) were huge and sweet! Yes, we’d go back again and again for these, for sure.
